This item is WWII german original Nitsche & Gunther Luftwaffe (N&G)flying goggles with case. N&G goggles sometimes are called : Blendschutzbrille ,Blendschutzsplitterbrille or Splitterbrille in German, in English \"shatterproof \". Nitsche & Gunther Luftwaffe flying goggles is second pattern, splinter proof goggles as introduced in 1944 with the typical, horizontally oval, aviator style frames and lenses. The goggles consist of a three piece, molded black bakelite frame with a separate, dual hinged, nose bridge and clear glass lenses. The lenses are the bulging, \"fish-eye\" type with an extreme curvature which increased strength and the peripheral field of vision. Each lenses frame has three, open, ventilation ports to both top and bottom edges. The outside edges of each lens frame has an extended, vertical, opened rectangular, sheet metal clip with a vertical screw headed retainer. The clips serve double duty by allowing the frames to be separated to change the lenses and as a securing clip for the headband. The headband consists of a horizontal, woven, grey rayon strap attached to each frame clip and a central elastic section secured by two, vertically oval, metal clips. The elastic section of the headband has a vertically oval, sliding, metal, length adjustment buckle. The elastic is still quite taunt. The goggles are in overall excellent condition. The goggles come housed in their original field-black painted, elongated oval, magnetic sheet metal case with a friction fit, removable top lid. The case is marked with embossed Latin script to one side, \"Fl.-Splitterschutzbrille mit Ultrasin-Glasern D\", (Flight Splinter proof protective goggles with Ultra perception glass model D) and Luftwaffe requisition number, \"Fl. Nr. 30550\". The case is black color paint. The condition of the item is exelent.
